It all started, as most things with me do, with deep and absolute indignation.

You see, my husband and I had just moved into our first house and I’d always dreamed of decorating my home such that it would look as if it could be a scene in a Restoration Hardware showroom.

And if you’ve ever seen an RH catalogue, you know that one of the things that makes it distinctly RH is the artwork on the walls—often on oversized canvases. But it’s not just the canvases that are oversized, the price is too. I’m sorry, $5,000 for recreations of something that looks like I threw a paintbrush against a canvas and let it fall where it may? “Please, I could make this [colorful word] myself with [same colorful word] from Michaels.”

And so I did! And here I should clarify that I have immense respect for artists—their work and techniques are far beyond anything I could ever hope to make.

But I got my oversized canvas art on the walls and that’s really all that I was going for. So, NO, none of these have any deep and profound meaning… rather, just the *vibes* I was looking to create in the various spaces in my home.
